Craftwerk
October 17, 2006

I went to the last craftwerk, and it was wild. Gus experienced his first mosh-pit. I couldn't get near any of the stalls, but they were covered in tasty stitched and crocheted goods that subverted the traditional arts. There was music, there were 'zines, there was chaos. Lovely! This time I'm sharing a stall with Dayglo designs and selling some of my wares.

Peg debutantes October 17 , 2006

peg debutantes

These started off as Goths, but morphed into prom wallflowers. Something to do with my fabric collection. I am working on a 'zine to go with them, where I reveal their troubled souls. Watch this space!

Poppyshock badges October 17, 2006

poppyshock badges

These are Marimekko meets Armistice day meets mementi mori (the freaky little skulls the Victorians planted in their decorative arts). I made them out of crimping-sheared felt and stitched little broach backs to them. They will be for sale for $8 at craftwerk!

Cameos October 17, 2006

cameos

I love my mother-in-law's cameo (see $2 top) and thought I would have a crack with fimo. I started off making famous people: bjork, Morrissey, Gertrude Stein, Sid Viscious; then I moved on to free-form rebels who don't normally feature. Like the bunny. Then again, he did in Donny Darko.
