Each year, a New Zealand Aotearoa native is chosen as the central character for Children's Day. In 2005, there was a tui; in 2004 a tuna (NZ eel); and in 2003 a pekapeka (NZ bat). The illustrations of these characters are extensive, spanning action packs, posters and website graphics.
